Furnace repair when the cold does not wait
In Duluth, a furnace is not a comfort item. When it stops working in January, pipes can freeze and a house can become unsafe within hours. Carlson Duluth Company repairs and installs furnaces for homes and businesses in Duluth and southern St. Louis County, and we understand what a heating system has to survive in a Northland winter.

As a Lennox Premier Dealer, we install some of the most efficient and quietest furnaces available, and we repair all the common problems that leave a household without heat.
Signs your furnace needs repair
A furnace usually tells you something is wrong before it stops. Call us if you notice:
- Uneven heating or cold spots in some rooms
- Banging, rattling or squealing when the blower runs
- Energy bills rising without any extra heating use
- Weak airflow coming from the vents
- The furnace cycling on and off too often
- A system that cannot keep up during extreme cold
Some of these start small, such as a dirty filter restricting airflow. Others, like an ignition that fails intermittently, tend to get worse at the worst possible moment. Catching them early is almost always cheaper than an emergency call on the coldest night of the year.
Filters matter more than most people think. A clogged filter starves the furnace of air, makes the blower work harder and can cause the unit to overheat and shut itself off. Check yours monthly during the heating season and replace it when it looks dirty, or ask our technician to show you how on your next visit.

Our process
A repair visit starts with a full diagnosis. We check the thermostat, ignition, burners, blower, filter and airflow, then explain what we found and what it will take to fix it. If a part is worn but not yet failing, we tell you, so you can plan instead of being surprised.
When replacement makes more sense, we look at the size of your home, your ductwork and how you use your heat before recommending equipment. A Lennox furnace can be matched with a heat pump in a dual-fuel system, or with a Lennox air conditioner so one system handles both seasons. Installation includes the gas piping, venting and thermostat setup, and before we leave we walk you through the controls. One customer told us the installer explained the new programmable thermostat in detail and cleaned up well, and that is the standard we hold every installer to.
Many Lennox furnaces are Energy Star qualified, so a new system can qualify for utility rebates and tax credits. We can point you to current Minnesota Power rebates and Lennox promotions and help with the paperwork.
